Well, I could totally relate with Grumpy Monkey that Valentine's Day is gross and mushy and exclusionary。。。。 until he realized that love can be expressed to whoever you love and why ever you love them: family members; friends; respected role models; whoever。 So, if Grumpy Monkey can figure out ways to celebrate Valentine's Day, I guess I can too。 :-) Well, I could totally relate with Grumpy Monkey that Valentine's Day is gross and mushy and exclusionary。。。。 until he realized that love can be expressed to whoever you love and why ever you love them: family members; friends; respected role models; whoever。 So, if Grumpy Monkey can figure out ways to celebrate Valentine's Day, I guess I can too。 :-) 。。。more

Jim Panzee, everyone's favorite grumpy monkey, learns that Valentine's Day is intended to celebrate much more than romantic love。 Having been turned off by all the hugging, kissing, and pairing up that he sees around him in the jungle, Jim turns to his best friend Norman for support。 But Norman and Jim's parents change his way of thinking and help Jim reassess his feelings about the holiday。 Still, all that kissing and cuddling leave Jim just as grossed out as he was before。 The colorful illustr Jim Panzee, everyone's favorite grumpy monkey, learns that Valentine's Day is intended to celebrate much more than romantic love。 Having been turned off by all the hugging, kissing, and pairing up that he sees around him in the jungle, Jim turns to his best friend Norman for support。 But Norman and Jim's parents change his way of thinking and help Jim reassess his feelings about the holiday。 Still, all that kissing and cuddling leave Jim just as grossed out as he was before。 The colorful illustrations, filled with couples and Jim's expressive visage, will appeal to young readers as will Jim's dismissive attitude toward romance。 The text and artwork capture the likely attitudes of the book's intended audience toward this holiday dedicated to love。 This is the seventh book in the popular series, and it looks as though Jim Panzee isn't about to disappear。 This picture book is a 3。5 for me, and it will be a great choice as a read aloud for Valentine's Day。 While there's nothing wrong with young love, it's rather refreshing to see this particular slant on the holiday depicted in a children's book。 。。。more

Poor Jim! He hates anything to do with love and Valentine's Day。 Can he learn the error of his way? Will be reading this one aloud for Valentine's Day story time。 So cute and a good lesson on what love really is。 Poor Jim! This book was hilarious。 Jim Panzee goes throughout the jungle and finds that couples everywhere are kissing, snuggling, and doing romantic things。 This grosses Jim out and he decides that valentines is the grossest holiday ever。 One of his friends teaches him that Valentines day isn't just about couples love, but love for family and friends。 The illustrations are gorgeous and simple。 The story is easy to follow along as well。 This book was hilarious。 Jim Panzee goes throughout the jungle and finds that couples everywhere are kissing, snuggling, and doing romantic things。 This grosses Jim out and he decides that valentines is the grossest holiday ever。 One of his friends teaches him that Valentines day isn't just about couples love, but love for family and friends。 The illustrations are gorgeous and simple。 The story is easy to follow along as well。 。。。more

One of the things I liked about this book is that with only a couple of exceptions, none of the animals in the dancing/kissing/cuddling/etc couples have stereotypical characteristics。 Only one of the crocodiles has eyelashes, but the rest are free of eyelashes, bows, mammalian breasts on birds or reptiles, and the other stereotypes one finds in kids books。
